And another quick detour leaving Fontevraud to visit Montsoreau which is classified as one of the most beautiful villages in France with an imposing chateau standing high above the road. It surely was beautiful, but not a lot open on a Monday in December.

Then on to Chinon where we checked into our fabulous hotel…

It is absolutely fabulous as is the town with all the wonderfully old buildings all being lived in and as you wander through these old streets you look up to see the fortress high above dominating the skyline.
