The royal fortress in Chinon is located in the Centre Val de Loire region. Overlooking the town, the fortress built by the Counts of Anjou, notably the Plantagenets, recalls the time when the history of France and England was intimately entwined. In 1429, the historic meeting took place between Joan of Arc and the Dauphin, the future Charles VII, in the Great Hall….. they ye are now!

This fortress is so full of history… Imagine standing in King Charles VII and Marie d’Anjou’s separate bedrooms!  So much history in this fortress, it was fascinating.
