Another visit to the fabulous Carcassonne

We visited Carcassonne in early December 2017 and although it was wonderful, it was freezing and we decided it would be well worth another visit in warmer weather and so we spent the day touring it again and although the French thought it was cold and windy we decided it was definitely Spring-like.

Carcassonne is set on a hilltop in southern France and is famous for it’s medieval citadel with it’s many watch tours and walled fortifications and is a truly wonderful place to wander through the streets and around the ramparts.

This time we stayed in the “new” town which is also lovely for a wander and full of lively restaurants and bars. Our hotel was just beside the Le Pont Vieux.

And in case you didn’t recognise her in the photo above 😎
There she is again stopping for air after she walked up to the Citadel 😝
At least it was all down hill on the way back 😜

It was a lovely day in Carcassonne and tomorrow we leave at the crack of dawn to get over the border into Spain before they go into “lock down” and we get stuck in France 😳
