Altea is a lovely charming town. It is split in two halves – one is on the beach with a beautiful promenade and the marina and the other half leads up to the old town which is full of character. It has quaint and charming streets, many of which are stepped, and wind UP and UP and UP to the church and plaza at the top of the hill, from where there are magnificent views of the mountains and the sea.
There was this really funny structure of a castle in front of the Church we couldn’t figure out why it was there, it seemed to be cemented to the ground – Sheila thought it was like something from Shrek!

Yesterday was a little overcast but this morning was absolutely beautiful and we woke up to a beautiful view of the Mediterranean and then had our breakfast sitting on the prom looking out on the beach – it was glorious.
